The paper examines the macro- and microeconomic aspects of US FDI in Spain, and provides an analysis of the comparative productivity of companies of US and Spanish origin. The author concludes that US FDI in Spain has contributed considerably to the country's economic growth, by raising its technological level and possibly its productivity, increasing its exports, and providing its workforce with better-paid, higher-skilled jobs than those offered by local companies.
