Estimates indicate that the unauthorized resident alien population (illegal aliens) rose from 3.2 million in 1986 to 11.2 million in 2010. This report presents the analyses of three surveys that collected data of illegal alien population from 1986 until 2010. The author concludes that the research points to various factors that have contributed to the increase in unauthorized resident aliens over the past two decades as well as a leveling off of these trends.
