This brief discusses the protests in Syria in light of the uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia in 2011. The author argues that although the demonstrations have been comparatively limited in numbers, protest will continue to smolder just beneath the surface of Syrian society which will inevitably result in further confrontations with security forces.
