This policy brief examines the statements of Republican primary candidates (as of July 2008) on US foreign policy with regard to Israel. Many of the candidates voiced criticism of Obama's assertion that an amended version of the 1967 borders should serve as the basis for any agreement between Israelis and Palestinians. For his part, President Obama argued that his statements had been misrepresented.
