This issue provides an overview of developments in conflict spots in Africa between March and May 1999. It focuses on five regions: North Africa, West Africa, Central Africa, East Africa and Southern Africa. The journal also discusses early warning and ethnic conflict management in Rwanda and Kosovo, the prospects for human security and development in Africa, peace mediation in central Africa, and sub-regional security in West Africa. In addition, conflict resolution in Sudan, African foreign policy harmonization, non-western conflict resolution training, and the conflict in Sierra Leone are examined.
