This issue provides an overview of developments in conflict spots in Africa in the months prior to September 1999. It focuses on five regions: North Africa, West Africa, Central Africa, East Africa and Southern Africa. It also discusses post-conflict reconstruction in Lesotho, post-election unrest in Malawi, conflict resolution in Angola, and international intervention in the DRC. In addition, the elections in Mozambique, a civil society movement tackling crime in South Africa, and public sector conflict management are examined.
