This issue provides an overview of developments in conflict spots in Africa in the months prior to June 2000. It focuses on five regions: North Africa, West Africa, Central Africa, East Africa and Southern Africa. Various authors also discuss Nigeria's receipt of the Africa Peace Award, human rights abuses and the challenges to peace in Sierra Leone, the privatization of security services on the continent, and non-state armed groups in Africa.
