This issue discusses nonmilitary ways of achieving security, conflict resolution, the link between stability and economic development, the AIDS problem and constitutional reform in Kenya. In addition, the role of the African Union and the African Security Council are examined. It summarizes trends in peacekeeping, conflict prevention and politics in the months prior to April 2002 in five regions: North Africa, West Africa, Central Africa, East Africa and Southern Africa.
