This brief discusses the relations in the Israeli-Egyptian-United States triangle in light of the Egyptian elections and the UN General Assembly discussion on recognizing the Palestinian state in September 2011. The author states that, from Egypt's signing of the peace treaty with Israel in 1979 to the recent mass demonstrations in Cairo’s Tahrir Square, there has never been a question as to Egypt’s commitment to the agreement. However, as the author argues, on at least two subjects - the Palestinian issue and the nuclear issue - deterioration in relations is likely to occur.
