This issue focuses on the nature and content of democracy in Africa. The articles cover a range of themes including the role played by civil society in a post-conflict democratic environment, the victory for democracy exhibited by the Kenyan elections, and how traditional society view democracy. Furthermore, it focuses on the link between gender and democracy, and the relationship between democracy and development.
