This brief discusses the relations between the United States and Israel since the Obama administration took office, stating that they have been characterized by distrust and suspicion. In light of the upcoming meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and US President Obama, the author argues that the circumstances seem to allow the two leaders to make historical decisions vis à-vis the political process. However, a precondition is overcoming the distrust between the two.
