The author argues that the US position towards Iran did not stop Iran from developing its nuclear capacity, nor will it in the future. Nor does the US seem to have any real intention of using overt military action to eliminate the Iranian nuclear program. This reality may present Israel with a dilemma: whether to accept the possibility of Iran attaining nuclear capability or try to foil this possibility by means of its own independent military action. The author more specifically addresses the question whether Israel must request a green light from President Obama’s administration for military action against Iran.
