The paper examines the reasons behind the political and socio-economic problems affecting the Middle East. It also considers Western strategies towards Middle East security and stability, especially after 9/11. The report ends with policy recommendations on how to promote reform and domestic dialog in the Middle East, as well as on how to ensure long-term stability in the region.
