This report examines three concrete projects on how to identify European defense cooperation in times of austerity. The three projects are: Reviving the EU battle group concept in the short term, developing a common MALE UAV platform for civil and military monitoring in the medium term, and establishing cooperation on armored vehicles in the long term. The authors analyze the three individual cases, explore a possible cooperation model, discuss and assess its potential benefits and indicate, in our conclusions, the necessary courses of action.
