This report provides an overview of Mexico’s free trade agreements, its motivations for trade liberalization, and some of the issues the country faces in addressing its economic challenges. The interest of the 112th US Congress in the trade and economic relationship with Mexico includes issues related to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the effects of NAFTA, economic conditions in Mexico, and Mexican migration to the United States.
