This report provides a brief summary of major Affordable Care Act (ACA) provisions, implementation and oversight activities, as well as current legal challenges. The 111th US Congress passed major health reform legislation including the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The ACA was substantially amended by the health provisions in the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010. Several other laws that were subsequently enacted made more targeted changes to specific ACA provisions.
