This paper explains the relations between Bhutan and China in the context of Bhutan's solid relations with India and emerging discourse on the country's geographical location and various foreign policy options. The author points out that the problems inherent in the political transformation of Bhutan from an absolute to a constitutional monarchy might lead to factional fighting among political elites, which would give China a chance to intrude in Bhutanese politics in the near future.
