This paper explains the methodological changes made in the 2nd edition of the Elcano Global Presence Index (IEPG). The IEPG focuses on measuring the presence of various countries – and not their power or influence – in the fields of the economy, defense, and other spheres of soft presence such as culture, sports, tourism, migration, science, information, technology, education and international development cooperation. Measurements are based on objective and tangible data.
