This paper looks at the changes in world trade between 1970 and 2010. The biggest changes include the declining relative importance of Western Europe and the increasing role of Asia. Manufacturing trade has become more regionalized and commodity trade more globalized. From 2000, smaller trade regions such as Africa and Latin America have increased their shares of world trade, reversing the trend of the 30 preceding years.
