The brief looks at the internal and external pressures facing Jordan. Jordan is struggling with the economic and political ramifications of the civil uprisings in the Arab world as well as with the flow of refugees from Syria. King Abdullah II has, so far, not managed to get broad agreement for the political reforms he has proposed, in particular with regards to election law reform. Despite this, Jordan has succeeded in strengthening its economic position.
