This brief analyzes the situation in Syria and provides policy recommendations for Israel. The author argues that the fall of the Assad regime in its current form has positive implications for Israel – namely, weakening the radical axis led by Iran – but it also creates new challenges for Israel. He recommends that Israel try to: weaken support for the Assad regime and Hizbollah; prevent spill-over of events into neighboring countries; minimize the influence of jihadist elements; and prevent proliferation.
