This insight discusses the Obama administration's approach to the civil war in Syria. It notes that US has avoided taking military action and has instead taken economic measures and exercised diplomatic pressure. The author argues that the Obama administration will be likely to avoid any military action in Syria since the civil war in Syria serves US interests and since any action on the part of the US would likely lead to a violent reaction from one side of the conflict.
