This paper comments on the parliamentary elections in Georgia and Ukraine scheduled for the 1st and 28th of October 2012. The political leaders of these two Eastern Partnership countries have committed themselves to European values and principles – rhetorically. In reality, the promise of their color revolutions is unrealized and they have shifted further towards authoritarianism, albeit following different paths in their respective post-revolution periods, write the authors. They anticipate difficult decisions for the EU if it transpires that elections in these Eastern Partnership countries are neither entirely free nor fair.
