The G20 has drawn criticism over its lack of focus and its failure to deal with major global economic issues. This analysis argues that the G20 has, in fact, achieved a great deal and that criticisms are often harsh and based on unrealistic expectations. However, the G20 still risks losing its way. The author suggests that the G20 should develop a multi-track process in which a wide range of issues can be discussed but where the leaders' meeting focuses solely on economic issues. This will allow the G20 to prioritize its agenda and focus on those policy areas where it can make a meaningful difference.
