The issue of terrorist motivations and pathways towards violent extremism has been the subject of numerous studies in recent years. Much of that work, however, has focused on open source literature. Less attention has been given to understanding the individuals themselves and their personal experiences within terrorist organizations. To help address this gap, this report presents interviews with members of the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) terrorist organization who are serving of have served prison sentences in Indonesia. It does so to help better understand radicalization among Indonesia's terrorist groups.
