This study looks at the history of the relationship between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the United Nations Security Council. It concludes that Security Council policymakers may want to consider that the more a provision caters to the interests of all the major local and regional players—and not just those of the DPRK—the more trust is increased in a sustainable way, and the higher the chances are that the region ceases to be a problem for the international community in the future.
