This paper looks at domestic financing of infrastructure in Bangladesh. While infrastructure encompasses energy, transportation, telecommunications, water and sanitation, and social infrastructure such as education and health, the author focuses on the financing needs of the transport and energy sectors. If Bangladesh is to step up its growth and truly graduate to middle-income country status, he argues, these two sectors are in need of greater, more targeted and immediate financing.
