This e-book offers insights into reactions of Western countries to the rise of power of Islamists after the Arab spring. It includes case studies on the US, the UK, Canada, Germany, Spain, France and Israel. Although the contributions highlight important differences in the policies and attitudes of the countries analyzed, similarities and recurring themes uniting all Western countries are identified. One is the importance of domestic considerations in Western countries' policymaking with regard to Islamist forces, which the book argues it is a mistake to ignore.
