This paper considers the factors that have supported and limited attempts at regional cooperation in the Middle East, with a particular focus on initiatives concerning the Arab world. It begins by outlining attempts at regionalism undertaken by Arab states, before considering EU-led, US-led, and international multilateral efforts to foster regional cooperation.
