This analysis explores how to strengthen the effectiveness of the G20. The author argues that the G20 can be made more effective by having clearer objectives, better communication and greater transparency and accountability. In order to do this, the Framework for Strong, Sustainable and Balanced Growth should be placed at the core of the G20, clarifying members’ shared objectives and priorities. He concludes by stating that Australia should establish a road-map for achieving these outcomes when it chairs the G20 in 2014.
