This commentary deals with the European External Action Service's (EEAS) efforts to prove its value within the EU and how the agreement between Serbia and Kosovo which it facilitated contributes to this aim. The author suggests that when the prime ministers of Serbia and Kosovo reached their first agreement on the principles governing the normalisation of relations, they not only settled long-standing ethnic enmities, they also provided much-needed proof of the added value of the EEAS.
