This paper examines the state of Russia-US cooperation, as of March 2013, in the Syrian Civil War. The author argues that Russia's resistance to international intervention in Syria has not produced a change in US foreign policy toward the Middle East. Russia has subsequently moderated its opposition, leading to increased Russia-US dialogue. While there is greater opportunity for concrete bilateral outcomes, the paper suggests that Russia still wants concessions in line with its own interests, both in the region and elsewhere.
