This report provides an overview of key issues, related to nuclear energy, facing Congress in the US. Some of these issues include the debate over the role of nuclear power in the nation's energy mix; the lessons that could be learned in the US from the Fukushima accident; the storage and disposal of nuclear waste; and security concerns over the threat to nuclear facilities and the possibility that US civilian nuclear exports could be used in the creation of foreign nuclear weapons.
