This paper examines the role of the G20 in international trade. The authors argue that the G20 should do more to support the multilateral trading system in the face of divisive mega-regional trade agreements. They also think they should discuss the implications of such trade agreements and changing global value chains. The authors recommend that the G20 should use trade as a focus point for economic and employment growth and modernize WTO trade policy. They also think they should attempt to align the methods related to the proposed mega trade agreements.
