This issue of Conflict Trends covers problems facing various African states, from dispute resolution to post-conflict reconstruction and reconciliation. The topics discussed in this publication include electoral violence in Africa; strategies behind the military confrontations in Heglig in Sudan; problems related to the concepts of "Responsibility to Protect" (R2P) and regime change; the dynamics of piracy in the Gulf of Guinea; the growth of private military and security companies (PMSCs); the concept of development sensitivity; and peacebuilding initiatives by young and educated members of communities in North-western Kenya.
