This brief argues that the appointment of Susan Rice as US national security adviser and nomination of Samantha Power as the next US ambassador to the United Nations by President Obama could indicate the return of liberal interventionism. It also suggests that Israel could benefit should Washington incorporate this concept into its Middle East strategy. As a result, the author says the Israeli government should remain receptive to liberal interventionism without openly endorsing it.
