This paper discusses the diplomatic implications the could result from the EU withholding or publishing its political statements concerning the Israeli-Palestine conflict. By examining a case where an EU statement condemning Israel was withheld, the brief shows the impact such diplomatic signals can have. The case also illustrates the fundamental difference of opinion between the EU and Israel on the importance of the conflict for the region.
