This report looks at the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), a US trade preference program that helps spur market-led economic growth and development in sub-Saharan Africa and deepens US trade and investment ties with the region. The AGOA is set to expire in 2015. With this in mind, the author suggests a number of issues that the US Congress may wish to address as it considers possible re-authorization of the act.
