This brief examines the possibility that a fundamental change will occur in Palestine's position on a political solution to the conflict between itself and Israel. It says that the prevailing opinion in Israel, the US and among Palestinian officials is that the negotiations which resumed in July 2013 will not lead to a settlement. However, it also argues that a number of factors might lead Palestine to accept proposals acceptable to the US which would lead the Obama's administration to ask for something from Israel in exchange. The author also examines possible Israeli responses to this potential development.
