This paper examines the long-term prospects (2030-2050) for 26 fragile states in Africa. By working through both optimistic and pessimistic scenarios, the paper concludes that some states will indeed remain wobbly while others could progress to 'middle-income' status. To facilitate the latter possibility, the paper concludes with a list of recommendations that the states should follow.
