This paper looks at the impact of the US decision to freeze military aid to the Egyptian armed forces. The author argues that this freeze not only reinforces Israeli and Saudi worries regarding US policy in the region, it will also have little effect on the Egyptian military, which is well funded by its secretive commercial empire.
