This paper discusses the progress of the nuclear discussions between Iran and the US in the wake of the election of President Rouhani. The author predicts that the stance taken by Obama in future negotiations could determine the prospects for a changed bilateral relationship between the two countries. She also suggests that any thaw in the relationship between the US and Iran would not be welcomed by Moscow as it would mean a decline in Russian influence.
