This brief examines Israel’s arms control policy and deliberate ambiguity in the nuclear realm. The authors compare Israel's stance with that of Iran. The vital difference, they claim, is that Iran violated the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty it had ratified and therefore lost its right to preach to others while Israel, although unclear about its nuclear intentions, has adhered to international regulations. The brief also examines the benefits of a Weapons of Mass Destruction Free Zone (WMDFZ) in the Middle East.
