This paper talks about radical Islamic militants in Central Asia, with a particular focus on the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) and the Islamic Jihad Union (IJU). The author examines the evolution of these organizations and describes their profile, the characteristics of their activities and their areas of operation. He illustrates that IMU and IJU have ceased to be a local phenomenon and that they are now active on a global scale and versatile in terms of their combat capabilities and operational mobility.
