This paper argues that Russia is using its influence to undermine the EU's Eastern Partnership (EaP) initiative and to pressure countries such as Armenia to join the Eurasian Economic Union. The authors argue that, in the future, the EU has to make it clear to those unsure of the economic benefits of the EaP that you do not need to have an exclusive customs union to enjoy deep integration for goods, services, people and capital.
