This brief examines the threat of a Taliban offensive during the 2014 national elections in Afghanistan. The author believes that, although the Taliban are capable of disrupting the elections, there are still many disagreements within its leadership about whether to carry out a campaign of violence and intimidation or allow the polls to go forward uninterrupted.
