In this issue of the Russian Analytical Digest, the first article looks at the growing inequalities that have emerged among different regions in the Russian Federation. The second article then assesses the political impact of reinstating gubernatorial elections to Russia in 2012. The third article looks at how appointed regional governors and dual city manager forms of government have increased the socio-political vulnerability of mayors. Finally, the last text examines corporate power in a typical 'monotown' - Norilsk - where a single company essentially holds all the power.
