This commentary examines the process towards a climate agreement and commitment between the Warsaw Conference of Parties (COP19) in 2013 and the Paris COP21 in 2015. The author argues that Warsaw achieved two major things that were put into motion: 1) Parties were asked to communicate 'intended nationally-determined contributions' by March 2015 and 2) the Ad-hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action was requested to identify the information that parties will provide when putting forward their contributions before COP20 in Lima in 2014.
