This article considers how Australia might go about improving its efforts to combat organized crime. After highlighting the role and function of the proposed anti-gangs squad initiative - a project that seeks to enhance Commonwealth-state law enforcement cooperation - the author argues that Canberra should also offer like-minded support and assistance to other Australian jurisdictions. This includes expanding the function and resources given to the Senior Officers Group on Organised Crime (SOG on OC) and extending the remit of the Australia – New Zealand Counter-Terrorism Committee.
