This paper provides an overview of a consortium on the future of European integration and governance. From the discussions which took place at the consortium, it suggests that a few main conclusions emerged: 1) that there is a split between North and South, but that it is not so strong as to prevent dialogue on shared goals and ideas for policy; 2) that policy makers and political actors need to reconnect with the people of Europe; and 3) that there is a need for citizen participation in the debate on Europe.
